Elizabeth Moore is an agroforestry practitioner and program leader with extensive experience across West, Central, and East Africa, Madagascar, and North America. Her professional background spans technical development, program management, and organizational leadership roles within international NGOs, including IRC, Trees for the Future, and Catholic Relief Services (CRS), where she has contributed to strengthening the quality and impact of agroforestry implementation in land restoration and farmer livelihood programs.

Elizabeth spent three years working in agroforestry systems in Northern Cameroon, including conducting master’s research on social identity and agroforestry opportunities in refugee contexts. More recently, during three years based in Madagascar, she supported the launch and growth of the Madagascar Agroforestry Alliance, a national multi-stakeholder platform bringing together farmer organizations, local NGOs, international NGOs, research institutions, government bodies, and private-sector actors. Under her support, the Alliance expanded from 8 to 65 institutional members, contributing to enhanced coordination, capacity development, and collaborative efforts toward policy improvements in support of agroforestry practice nationwide.

Through her US-based land design consulting practice, Elizabeth works with landowners and institutions to design restorative, resilient, and productive landscapes that respond to ecological conditions as well as landowner values and aspirations. She brings a practitioner’s perspective that bridges research and implementation, private and public sectors, temperate and tropical systems, and dryland and humid agroecosystems, linking experiences across Africa and North America. She also values integrating agroforestry practice with broader human dimensions, including spirituality and artistic expression, which are often overlooked in technical approaches.

As Treasurer of the International Union for Agroforestry (IUAF), Elizabeth contributes her experience in organizational management, coalition building, and program oversight to support the Union’s financial health, accountability, and long-term sustainability. She is committed to transparent governance, effective board functioning, and strengthening IUAF’s capacity to foster collaboration across institutions, regions, and continents, in support of advancing agroforestry practice worldwide.
